I began going to LA fitness New Barnet because I had spent a long period of time on antibiotics and had lost my energy levels whereas previously I'd had high energy and felt good. I decided to take action and join LA fitness New Barnet because I could no longer cope with how I was.

I found it hard at first but was determined to achieve my previous levels of fitness. I felt there was a good atmosphere at the club and that there was no discrimination against age or class. I found that the LA Kickstart programme worked very well and that my Fitness Instructor gave me lots of support. I started on the treadmill and could not run for longer than three minutes but now I feel like I can go forever. The Personal Trainers are very helpful even if you aren't one of their clients and I also started joining the spinning classes after a short while.

Within six weeks I had ran 5km and within three months I could run 10km. I am pleased with the results and so happy that I am achieving my goals and that at age of 65 there are still challenges out there. I feel as though I have exceeded my original goal and have also met a group of people who have enriched my life.

You have to be determined and stay focused. I also think that getting into a good routine is the key as it then just becomes part of your life.
