We tend to think it’s only women who are interested in looking after their skin but male grooming is also a massive growth area so here are a few tips for both sexes:
1. Ladies, a good haircut that is easily managed is gold dust when you are in and out of the gym, the pool, the shower and so on. And while we’re on the subject of hair, active people - male or female - need to condition theirs at least once a week in order to keep it healthy and strong.
2. If you can skip make-up when you go to the gym that’s great, but if you do want to wear make-up when you exercise go for the waterproof options. If you haven’t got time to apply make-up fully after your workout just make sure that you wear some lipstick or lip gloss - it makes all the difference in terms of giving your face some colour.
3. Learn how to massage your face and head. It’s a great way for both sexes to de-stress and keep their skin supple.
4. You’ve heard it all before (and you’ll probably hear it many times again), drinking plenty of water keeps the skin hydrated and healthy.
5. Use baby powder after you shower - it will help to absorb any post exercise perspiration. This applies to men just as much as women (if not more).
6. The skin is constantly renewing itself. Regular exfoliation will buff away dead skin cells and allow the layer of new, supple, fresh looking skin underneath to be exposed.
7. Apply a light coat of tinted moisturiser after activity. This will prevent your skin from drying out and give it a healthy glow. Moisturiser is just as important for men (particularly after shaving) as it is for women.
