Protein Breakfast

The much-maligned egg is back - well sort of. It seems that the old advertising slogan “Go to work on an egg” may have been right after all.

We all know that eating breakfast is a good idea - particularly if you are trying to lose weight - but a new study shows that eating a protein-rich breakfast (eggs are a great source of protein) is even more powerful because it increases satiety (feeling full) and reduces hunger throughout the rest of the day. The research shows that when regular breakfast is taken, the brain activity in the regions responsible for food motivation and reward are reduced prior to lunchtime. No surprise there, but the researchers also found that eating a high protein breakfast produced even greater changes in appetite, satiety and eating behaviour compared to eating a normal breakfast.
