Sounds like a double glazing company on steroids, but the anabolic window is actually quite an important concept for regular exercisers to understand. In simple terms it's the 30-minute post-workout period where your body is the most receptive to nutrients. And sports drinks are one of the most effective ways of refuelling during this time. Most sports drinks have two purposes: Firstly to replenish the electrolytes - mainly salt but also potassium and magnesium - that are lost when you sweat and secondly to replace the carbohydrates that are used during your workout. While post-exercise refuelling is important, there is no reason why you shouldn't have a sports drink instead of water during exercise - the carbohydrate content will help to combat fatigue, particularly during intense exercise. Try the range of sports drinks available at our club shop and see what a difference they make to you.
